Calgary City Council protected the Low Income Transit Pass, protected community funding for programs like the HELP team (formerly DOAP team) and the Distress Centre, invested in Downtown safety for everyone, “fixed” the potholes with more investment in our streets, and accelerated the development of more housing around our train stations – all while keeping the tax rate below inflation and population growth.

The priority snow plan is The City's schedule for clearing snow from public spaces. It's approved by City Council and comes into effect once a snowfall ends city-wide. The plan sets out which roads, sidewalks, bikeways, and pathways our crews will clear, to what extent, and on which day within the seven-day plan. Click here for the day-by-day priorities.
Support the Calgary Food Bank with Ward 8 this Holiday Season!
Until December 7th, let’s come together as a community to support our neighbours in need. Drop off your non-perishable food items at the MNP Community & Sports Centre (2225 MacLeod Trail SE) and make a difference for families in Calgary.
Your donations matter. The demand for help has never been greater, and together, we can ease the burden for those who need it most.
Top Wish List Items:
🍅 Canned pasta sauce
🍅 Canned tomatoes
🍝 Pasta
🍚 Rice
🍼 Diapers & Baby Formula
Let’s show the power of community. Every item helps! 💙
Can’t make it to MNP? You can still make a difference! Consider making a monetary donation or scan the QR code to contribute. Every dollar helps support those in need.
For every dollar donated, the Calgary Food Bank can distribute $3.50 worth of food.
Please note that the Calgary Food Bank uses Canada Helps to facilitate online donations. Once your donation is made, you will automatically receive a receipt in your email from Canada Helps.
Connaught School is a public elementary school that serves families in the Beltline and Downtown.
Friends of Connaught is holding a casino fundraiser on December 20 and 21, and they need volunteers to help make it happen. Funds raised will help purchase musical instruments, technology, math manipulatives, physical education equipment and other items for students.

Work continues on the south leg of the Green Line, with information sessions sharing designs for southeast stations.
Calgary Public Library continues to move forward in its recovery following a cybersecurity incident last month. The Library is moving to stage two of its Pathway to Recovery. This stage is focused on the sequenced return of public services. As of November 21, members will be able to access their accounts, and locations are able to accept, and process returns and holds.
All current loans will be extended until December 16 and there are no late fines on Library materials. We appreciate the continued patience of staff, volunteers and members as we process our materials return backlog. The Library is anticipating a return to full service in December.
